We Love Free and We Love Suze

It's surprising to us how much we like Suze Orman. We like her no nonsense attitude, we like how she makes it possible for EVERYONE to save, and she makes the impossible seem totally possible. We came across a link for her new book, Women & Money. It's a free download until tonight, and while reading on our computer is about as fun as watching the fan oscillate, it's environmentally friendly, and we bet Suze would be proud. The free download link is here (you can also just read it as a PDF).
If you'd rather buy it, and we can appreciate this because we have a rather extensive library and we never actually go TO the library, you can find it here for about $17.

We Cannot Find Them Online...

But we just scored the most fantastic booties at a Steve Madden shop. They were approximately $40, they are flat, above the ankle but not much, and the perfect, softest cognac colored leather. Steve Madden is having a pretty sick sale,  and we're surprised by how often they have very edgy/fashionable-in-a-good-not-mall-way. We picked up a pair of sandals and those booties, and spent just under $100!

Lynn Yaeger: BS Hearts

We've been reading loads of Lynn Yaeger lately, and we are ready to rate her as our favorite fashion writer of all time. Why doesn't she have her collected works in some sort of book form [assuming one is not hidden in some Amazon corner we were somehow not able to access]? From her latest column for the Voice:

Austerity, rampaging beige, and a glut of good taste have invaded Times Square, and I hate it. The new Muji store, that temple of high-concept Japanese housewares, opened late last month across from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and the notoriously louche denizens of that historically seedy corner must wonder what it's doing there.

And we like Muji! That's their acrylic table above.

ShopBop One-Day Sale

Just noticed that ShopBop is having a 20% off regularly priced apparel (er, dresses, tops and bottoms) - orders need to be placed by midnight. We'd buy this Theory cashmere sweater because cashmere never seems to go on sale, it's super classic, and we love it. We, however, will not wear pleated shorts with it.

We were a bit meh about a BS Facebook group—we're not so leader-y about things, when it comes right down to it—but we are glad we did: We started a little discussion about which retailers to hit up for a discount. One lovely person suggested Fred Flare—and we'll have one from them in a matter of days! Extremely exciting! Join our group, and tell us your other favorite discount-y shops!

This Website Saved us $400

We know we've been awfully website heavy, but we're discovering these things in the most random of places! We were reading the new issue of Popular Science, and we came across BillShrink. It's a website that helps you compare and contrast your cell phone plan to see if what you have makes the most financial sense for how you use your phone.

Now, we are the kind of person who is always looking for a deal, or for a way to save - or for a reason to leave (the 3G iPhone is a bit tempting). But thanks to this site, we realized that our current carrier is the cheapest (we love you, TMobile), and that we are paying for more minutes than we have ever used. A phone call later, we are now paying $60/month. We are so so so stoked!

And we know. We're geeks.

Website Spy, Sort Of

So! We love sample sales. A lot. We love the idea of getting tons of things for cheap (or cheaper, as it were). We used to have them where we worked (oh, the days of True Religions for $15), and we attended a few in NYC once upon a time (Kate Spade sample sales are absolutely insane). Since we are not as near to NYC as we used to be, and we work in an industry where no matter how cheap something is, we probably don't want it, we miss our sample sales. Luckily, the internet has them!

We signed up for Haute Look not knowing what to expect, and we've been pleasantly surprised. Anyone can sign up (as opposed to others that are invite only), and the sales are decent. The prices aren't SHOCKINGLY LOW!!! or anything, but usually about 50% off retail.

Right now, they're running a sale on Ella Moss and Splendid. It's worth signing up to see what you can get!

Striped Splendid hoodie, was $142, now $71

Summer's Here

We love reader mail, and we love it when we read the mail and we are like ha! we know exactly what you're talking about! Here is today's!

lil bunny,
it's hot as hades where i am, but i'm broke as a joke. but i have no clothes. or shoes, really. just winter things. can you help? i'm in the middle of nowhere in new jersey, so please be mall friendly.
love,
stella

Well, we can totally, totally relate to this (we recently discovered we had less than $2 in our bank account and NO hot weather clothes) - so here's an outfit we're going to try to recreate this weekend.

152416_w_s

Frankly, we're scared by the top on the left. Heart buttons, a sash, a weird print AND a ruffle hem. Eesh. We do love the top on the right, though. Nothing screams Summer like a rainbow plaid, the blue straps are cute, it's a flattering cut. We could see this with shorts, jeans, skirts. We're way into it. For $15, we'll try it out!

Coco Halter, $14.99

4384156302

Now, we don't do shorts unless we are running or in privacy. But we've been thinking about making at-the-knee cutoffs. We have these jeans for Forever 21. We have 2 pair - one in each color, and we're wearing them right now. We get tons of compliments on them, and we would be lost without them. We've been meaning to buy another couple pairs of them, but we're on a tight budget, too. But! For $12.50, you can pick these up, cut them off right above the knee. They're super lightweight, so you've got shorts we'd even wear. We may attempt this this weekend. We will say that the sizing is ALL OVER THE PLACE, moreso than normal for F21. We bought 2 pair of the same wash, in the same size, and there was literally a 2" difference. We sometimes care what size we wear, but with these, they're so inconsistent and so cheap? Who care!

Lindsey skinny jean, $12.50

14567374_20_b

We realize this is an awkward picture, but we're still stuck on gladiators. For $38, it's worth a shot!

Encircled sandal, $38

14553002_11_b3

So this hat isn't cheap (and why is the model so angry?), but it's better for you than getting sunburned! And it's cute. And it's amazing how much easier it is to see when you have a wide brimmed hat.  We're in!

Laurel hat, $28

Stay cool out there!

Sex And The City: Our (Spoiler-Free) Review

Unlike your regularly scheduled writer, we've always been a (quiet) fan of this show. We aren't saying it's groundbreaking, or innovative, or anything - but it's always been something we've enjoyed quite a bit. It definitely doesn't hurt that Chris Noth is such a major player - we've loved him dearly ever since his Law and Order days as Det. Mike Logan (it broke our hearts when we learned he picked out his own ties, every time).

When we heard of the movie, we were excited but we weren't beside ourselves. It's just a movie. We were far more excited for Harry Potter (both books and movies) but we ended up going over the weekend. And, our review? It's exactly what you'd expect it to be. It's fun, it's easy, it's sad at some points, funny at others. It's just like a really, really long episode. Sure, some parts are implausible, some are contrived, some shoes cost more than our mortgage payment - but it's not meant to be a documentary or anything close to real.

Our favorite parts? The fashion, sure. We heard people grumbling about all the product placement, but none of it seemed out of line or unnecessary. We don't love haute couture - it's unwearable for about 99.999% of the population, but everything made sense for the movie. We just spent quite some time scouring the internet to find more info about the sunglasses Carrie wears in Mexico - if anyone knows what they are, please let us know. The more day to day/ready to wear clothes are perfect, and it was really nice to see the costume make sense for the character 10 years later. We really liked Jennifer Hudson, Chris Noth, the references to the series, and Sarah Jessica Parker's highlights.

Our least favorite part? This is kind of a major one for us; the crowd at the theater. It was full of women who would cheer at the screen at pivotal moments, laugh when it was serious, and generally yell things like YO GO GIRL. Honestly. We love the series more than most people, it echoed our life in a fairly dramatic way once upon a time. But. It. Is. A. Movie.

If you go in expecting nothing more, nothing less, you'll be in excellent shape. Just go on a Saturday afternoon or something. Take note of the fashion, and please. Don't yell at the screen.

If we had to rate it, we'd give it a solid 3.5 stars out of 5.

Lumosity: BS Hearts

So we read this story about brain-exercising computer games, which led us to Lumosity and Raindrops, one of their games. We are obsessed with this game. Added bonus: We went to the shop to get Starburst, our new favorite sugar-fix, and came back to our apartment. We decided to play a round of Raindrops before eating our candy, and for the five minutes we played, we completely forgot about our snack. We ate it anyway, but next time, if we're more interested in math games than the food we just bought, we probably weren't that hungry to begin with.

We Can Admit When We're Wrong

We'd like to think that we are never wrong, but sadly, that's not true. We can admit when it happens, and sometimes we are ok with it. Like right now. We will admit. We were wrong when we said Listerine Whitening Strips didn't work.

We were in Target, perusing whitening strips. We saw Crest ones. We picked them up. We added them to the cart. We then realized they were almost FIFTY AMERICAN DOLLARS. We promptly put them back, especially once we remembered that we had the Listerine ones at home. We thought we'd give them another try, and you know what? They're not so bad. They're still kinda sticky and ew, but they ACTUALLY WORK. We've been using them a few times a week, just in the mornings, and we actually notice a difference. They don't burn or sting or anything, and they dissolve mostly (we usually wipe away the remainder with a sleeve or scarf).

We take back our scathing review - we'd recommend them!

Listerine Whitening Strips, $24

BS, It's Your Birthday! Happy Birthday, BS!

So, it's hard to tell from the words alone, but the title is meant to be sung in the classic Simpsons song, 'Lisa It's Your Birthday', from when they had a Michael Jackson impersonator/Michael Jackson/crazy white dude who thought he was Michael Jackson. It was one of the more touching episodes.

With that, here are some of the things we would buy for your regularly scheduled writer if we had more money than we do.

Up first! Because everyone needs a wallet, and sometimes larger wallets just won't do. This guy looks puny - we think the photos are bad, because the measurement is about 3.5" x 6" - that's actually pretty large. We haven't seen it in person, but we think it's definitely big enough to carry the necessities - we may actually get one for ourselves when our proper wallet kicks the bucket.

Marc by Marc Jacobs key pouch, $58/brown, $68/black

Now, we know rompers aren't everyone's thing. But for some reason, we really like this. We love the idea of one piece dressing (despite having an ORDEAL when we were young involving overalls), and this romper could be absolutely amazing on the right person (and we firmly believe BS could be that person). We're not sure what we'd match it with, other than flip flops. Too beachy, maybe? But it's not like we'd wear it to the office. Add a bracelet or two, keep the hair down - less beach, more awesome.

Vintage Terry Romper, $34

We love our BlackBerry, and we only have one because your r.s.w. has one and we were totally jealous. We are DYING the get the Curve (we've tried every scheme we can), and if we had loads of money, we'd totally get y.r.s.w one - and though we hated it at first, we think the gold is kind of pimp. Er. Awesome. We've been watching too much VH-1.

BlackBerry Curve, prices vary (anywhere from $.01-$350)

We gasped when we saw this dress. What else is there to say?

Twist Detail Dress, ~$70

And where would we be without our Havianas? Seriously, if we didn't own a pair we'd be like - wtf, why do you keep talking about them? They're flip flops. But, we know. Now, we know. Not sure what about these is slim, or why they're expensive. But, they're gold.

Slim Havianas, $28

Happy Birthday!

Get Outside!

It's Earth Day! Get outside, ride a bike, take a walk, don't use that plastic bag, turn off the faucet when you soap up your face, plant a tree, throw your old food in the compost bin, change a lightbulb to a CFL, stop drinking bottled water in plastic bottles, see if your employer offers any kind of incentives for commuters who take alternative transport, close the fridge door while you take a drink, recycle that Diet Coke can, plant a tree, help clean up the neighborhood, fly less, go for a jog and breathe in the fresh air.

Basically, just enjoy today and think about how you can make a difference!

One Thing We'd Recommend...

We remember being very small, and one of our parents asked us to get them their American Express card. We dutifully did as told, and as we looked at it, we noticed the 'member since' date was BEFORE our birth date. So, our young mind realized, our parents have had AmEx cards longer than they've had us.

This, and the fact that someone we know who is often broke has like 2 of them, has made them our holy grail. We did not have stellar credit - we still don't, actually. But once upon a time, we wanted to buy a house. Our fiscally smart friend recommended a site where you could monitor your credit report, dispute any misinformation, and it would alert you if something major changed. We were like, ok whatever, dude. We're already getting our free annual credit report (get yours here - don't be fooled by thinking you have to pay something. It's free. We will get one every few months, so we spread out the info from the three bureaus throughout the year), we don't need a freaking monitoring system.

But, in a moment of weakness, we signed up. Here we are, 3 years later, and we have increased our credit score over 100 points. Yes, it was that bad before. Now, it's not like it's a given - sign up and get your increase or anything. In the last 3 years, we've bought a house, gotten married, bought 2 cars, and cleaned up our credit a LOT. But monitoring with MyFico.com has been really helpful. It lets us know when a balance increases, when a score goes up (AND down, which usually means something is late and we know to act on it immediately), when a new account is added. Yes, it costs us $8/month - but we'd rather have this than a NetFlix account. Hopefully, we're on our way to our very own American Express card (that we will promptly lose in our house and never use).

Philly: Come Get in Shape (and Actually Have Fun)

It's no surprise that we don't like working out. We are active enough - we like walking, and riding our bike, but that's because they have a purpose and often end with a cookie, cupcake, or Diet Coke. We generally hate the idea of working out to work out. Our college didn't have an athletic department, so we haven't had a proper gym class since high school (which was quite a while ago) - so we've gotten lazy, and a bit out of shape.

Well, we are so freaking stoked because we just got word that Punk Rock Boot Camp is starting up again. It's like gym class for the kids who always got picked last - with better music than any gym we've ever been in. Trainer Brian Adoff runs you through an hour's worth of intense exercise, but we've never felt embarrassed or slow, even though we were, at times, the absolute slowest person there - and fell off stairs standing still. We love PRBC because it's fun, the music is good, the people are nice - we have yet to see any perky gym rats or meatheads. In fact, when we were going in the Fall, it was a smallish group of people with all sorts of different experience levels, and if anything, people were a little shy. We can handle shy. We cannot handle the woman at our gym who hoots and hollers. Literally.

Brian makes the classes not intimidating and the tasks (events? activities?) actually fun. We, for the first time in ages, stopped caring about how we looked and started caring about how we were improving our balance (no more falling over in flats!), our strength, and our health. We highly recommend it to everyone who can go. We can assure you, we'll be there - sweaty and filthy, but we'll be there.

Jovovich Hawk at Target, Finally!

So JH finally hit Target this weekend. We went to two Targets within 20 minutes of their opening times and it was already picked over - how this happens, we have no idea. We then spent approximately 40 minutes in the changing room trying on just about everything we could get our grubby little paws on. Not surprisingly, the material on some items is just gross - like a lace puff sleeve that we actually got stuck in. The fit is wonky in a lot of the things we tried - so we'd strongly suggest trying things on.
And actually, now that we think about it, the prices are a little high for Target - and for things of this quality.

But whatever, this is the best showing we've seen at Target for the Go International line, so we're not going to complain TOO much.

We bought the shirt at the top - it's super simple, but it's pretty. The fit is completely unoffensive, but the shirt definitely requires a second layer, unless you're into flashing people. We are not. It's got a cute bird detail above the pocket, too.

Stripe Tee, $14.99

This is what JH (sorry, it's just way too many letters) does best - and it's not really our thing. But hey, on the right person, it could be totally cute. We are going to go on a limb and say that it's much nicer in person because this picture kind of sucks.

Square Neck Floral Dress, $39.99

We didn't try this on and we kind of regret it. If anyone does go out and try this, let us know how it fits. We're fairly anti-shorts this year, and soon it'll be too hot for pants. This could either be very cute, or very sausagey.

Denim skirt, $24.99

This time Target gets an A+ for effort; we just hope next time it's a designer we like.

BS Favorite: Rosebud Salve

Now, we know we have probably talked about this before. But we love Smith's Rosebud Salve. We like everything about it; the tin, the price, the smell, the shininess. We used to keep a tin in just about every bag until we ended up with too many tins and then some got left in a hot car and melted everywhere, and. It was just bad.

However, our love for S.R.S has been renewed. We like lip balm a lot, especially when our office has the humidity level of, say, a desert. The other day, we actually had various bowls of water on our desk to slightly humidify the air. We drank so much water the other day that we almost burst on our ride home, which turned into from about 50 minutes to about (literally) 100. We've been using our fancy lip balm that we don't want to shit talk, but Dear Friend warned us that it made her lips drier. We scoffed and were like, whatever it's so shiny, who cares.

Then. Then we woke up, yawned, and split our lip. Blood and pain everywhere. This happened 3 days in a row until we finally brought a tin of S.R.S to bed, put it on before sleep, and when we woke up today, we could easily smile without any kind of pain or blood!

Rosebud Salve, we are sorry we took you for granted, a little. We love you most.

The best part, other than it being super effective, is that it's cheap(ish) and available everywhere!

Smith's Rosebud Salve, $6

We Want to Know...

We recently received a rather panicked phone call from someone we are close to. Apparently, their horoscope told them they are going to break up with their boyfriend on Feb 20. We think this is nonsense - especially considering Close One and her boyfriend are perfectly happy. We like horoscopes for anecdotal reasons - we read them on the bus, or in the paper when we remember. We do not base anything around them. If our horoscope told us a piano was going to fall on us when we left the house, we would still leave the house (though, to be honest, we would probably look up first).

We mentioned this to Dear Friend and she noted that she also believes in the stars. We don't disbelieve, entirely. We just don't subscribe to the predictions for 1/12 of the population contained in vague wording. Our Dear Friend and Close One's horoscope said if they were unhappy in a relationship, it would end. And if they were happy, they would get engaged. But none of this applied to committed relationships.

We were so bewildered we actually smacked our head with the phone. So, we want to know - are we alone in our relative skepticism? Or, was Close One really just being a dope?

Spring, Where ARE You?

We are so, so, so ready for Spring. It's been a pretty mild winter where we are (we haven't even had a chance to wear our amazing snow boots), and we're so ready for Spring that we actually went out the other night wearing a Spring jacket. And a shirt, cashmere sweater, and 8' scarf. But still.

However, the high for today is something like 25, and the closest we can get to Spring is looking at pictures of warmer climates. Since that's just depressing, since we never go anywhere, we'll think about our Spring picks instead.

Our first order of business is to get our hair dark as possible (without black, we saw some pictures of us with black hair, not good). Our resident hair expert, Diana, was kind enough to give us the absolutely most amazing, beautiful highlights. We had told her we wanted something fun, noticeable, but subtle and lovely. That was as much direction as we gave her. Oh, and that we didn't want the yellow stripes that tend to run rampant in the office world. A little later, we had the most fabulous caramel and latte and other delicious sounding highlights possible. While we love them, we are feeling a need to go back to as dark and shiny as humanly possibly. If you're not lucky enough to have Diana in your neighborhood (if you are, and want to get in touch with her, let us know!), we'd recommend the dye above.

Herbal Essences in Brown Cool and Collected, $11.29

We've been really excited about bright blue for a couple months - it seems like the perfect, cheeriest color you can wear (or carry) if baby-duck yellow isn't quite right. And we genuinely believe that a bright blue bag will go with any outfit. We're not sure if we're sold on the two-tone here, but it looks like a nice detail rather than a mistake. Plus, we love any bag we can use to avoid carrying multiple bags - and this one looks like it'll hold a days' needs.

Rebecca Minkoff Plan B bag, $655

One thing our little part of the country never seems to have is a dry Spring. W'e've been caught in so many rainstorms. Once, our legs actually turned blue from the dye in our dark jeans washing off onto our legs. We finally got a proper raincoat, and we have to say, we hate it. It's ill-fitting and we feel a bit like a high school outcast in it. We are convinced that would not happen with this Ben Sherman Mac. It's fitted for the female figure; it's so nicely cut we could probably wear it as a dress. It's the kind of thing we would try to wear as a dress and then chicken out halfway to wherever we were going. As outerwear, though? We'd never take it off.

Ben Sherman Bisset Mac, $179

Because We Like Money and Motivation

We recently were clued in to a little challenge that PurplePinkandOrange.com is doing - basically, you commit to cleaning/organizing an area in your house/apartment/studio/room, and you can win $25 from Amazon. You have to have a blog so you can post before and after pictures, and you have to make a to-do list so people can see that you really MEANT to leave that pile of clothes on the dog crate, it's creative storage - not just an oversight.

But hey, we're gonna do it - it's the motivation we need, it's a chance to win free money (close enough), and it commits us to actually DOING IT. Which is like motivation, but forced.

Wardrobe Remix

We had just written out this rather lengthy post about how we hate global warming, but we're stoked it's warm. And how we want Spring clothes, but don't want to buy them yet because it's still very much Winter outside - and then we remembered that during lunch with the most stylish girl we know, she mentioned a group on flickr. Now, we love flickr - it's the best photo archiving site we've found. It's got groups, it's tags, it's just neat.

Well. Our Stylish Friend was telling us about a group she likes called Wardrobe Remix. And we just spent the last half hour looking at it. It's all pictures from very stylish people of their outfits, with details on where things came from. It sounds beat, but it's awesome - and inspiring. We've decided we want a new look for Spring, and we're using this as a starting point.

Go check it out! Wardrobe Remix!

We Want to Know

\

We know we have talked about how we are going to stop shopping here. We know that we have pledged to only buy things we need. We also know that we have talked (a lot, actually) about how much we find on eBay and what a great deal we've got.

Well, we found another great deal last night. It's a slightly self-congratulatory present, a little bit in advance of some things coming through, or a consolation prize if they don't. We'd never even thought to look for this bag on eBay, and we don't know why not! Any regular reader will recognize the Anna Corinna, now Corinna + Foley City Tote. We post it like once every two weeks.

Last night? One became ours, and we are slightly aghast at how much we paid. We will say it was significantly lower than the retail, but slightly above our car payment. So. We want to know from you - what's the most you've ever spent on something fashion related? Did you regret it? We think we're a lot quicker to buy things now than we were because if we don't like it, we can just sell it.

We've got no prizes to give, but we are really interested in hearing about your most expensive things! We also note the complete irony in this coming like three days after a post about tightening purse strings. Which we are doing. Starting now.

The BS Guide to Being Sick

So we got an email from your regularly scheduled writer asking us to step in and write an extra post, as she is 'really, really sick'. Last time she was 'really, really sick', Circus Peanuts (the orange marshmallow things) were to blame - and we saw how dreadful that was. We're hoping she feels better soon.

We also just got over being sick, so here is our guide to necessities when under the weather.

We have to have tea. Like all the time, but it's especially nice when we're sick. Our mom used to make us the appropriate Celestial Seasonings for our ailments (Sleepytime for the flu, Red Zinger for a cold), and we still do it now (btw, thanks Mom!). Only trouble is, now we have to worry about things like stoves and fires and falling asleep. This kettle from Bodum plugs in and has auto-shut off. It comes to a boil in less than 2 minutes (we timed it today) and then shuts off. It's brilliant!

Ibis Electric Water Kettle, $39.95

Oh, sweatpants. We live in sweatpants when we are around the house, and God help us if we are sick. It is sweatsuit time, 24/7. We've been really happy with Old Navy sweatpants - they look enough like pants to get to the local drug store and get NyQuil without being embarrassed, but they're comfy enough to crawl right back into bed.

Active Button Pocket Pants, $15

We have to be covered in warmth, basically. We bought these Ugg slippers for our mom, and we've almost stolen them from her like a hundred times. We tried to devise a plan where our dog would pretend to wear them, and while our mom laughed, we would train our dog to sneak into the other room wearing said slippers and we could steal them, but it didn't work. These are fuzzy, warm, and can totally be worn outdoors if necessary.

Coquette Slippers, $83.95

Did you know, at the Celestial Seasonings factory, they have a life-size plush Sleepytime bear? We love him. If you can't get a real hug from him, the tea is almost as good. The mint'll calm an upset belly, and the steam will help you breathe. We love CS. Forever. And ever.

Sleepytime tea, about $3

Feel better, r.s.w!

Searching Boxes!

So obviously we write this hoping that no one is reading this, because everyone is at the mall or the park or the tropical island having a wonderful vacation. We are sprucing the shit up around here, if you will forgive the entirely unnecessary profanity, and we introduce: our search box! We just searched for "James Blunt" and we found all this stuff we wrote when we actually thought he was cute. (This is unlikely to recur in 2008. Can we say that our brain is so fried that we just had to look up "recur" to make sure it's a word.)

Anyhoo, we'll be back stronger than ever in 2008 (er, if we do say so ourselves) and we'll be doing some behind the scenes work for the next few days. As always we love to know what is up with everyone and we pray and expect everyone is having a super-fun time.

Above, just one of the five million things currently on sale: Charlotte Ronson's Paddington coat, was $398, now $278.60

What Philadelphians Should Do On Saturday

It's time, again, for the twice-yearly Punk Rock Flea Market sponsored by R5 Productions. We went to this last time with Lovely Friend, and we picked up a bunch of screenprinted t-shirts, a necklace with a tooth charm, and a couple canvas tote bags. There are always vintage clothes, records, and handmade goods. It's definitely worth checking out - what better way to get a last minute Christmas present?

Details are here. We will say, if you want the best of the best - or any records - go early. Seriously, early in the punk rock world is 10 am. We're already halfway done our day by then.

Gifts We're Giving

We, hard to admit, are almost tired of shopping for the holidays. All the good gifts are bought, the sales are over, we are flat broke. But, we still have a couple gifts left to get and it's not our Lovely Friend's fault we left his present til last. We are also terrible at getting gifts for friends. Who wants to have the weird, awkward conversation about exchanging presents? And then there's the weird, awkward situation when you GIVE them said present and you can see the wheels turning where they are thinking, oh crap, i do not have a present for you.

Well. We have a solution. Magazine subscriptions are inexpensive (generally speaking), no wrapping/mailing/shipping/shopping involved, no awkward handing-over. Just enter your info, their address, and click. They get an email, you don't worr
