These Necklaces Are A Good Thing

So speaking of Out of Africa and the book we've been trying to read for three months and just, apparently, lost, we shot this little thing above (on our tiny PowerShot!) in Kenya. All these kids lived in the most terrible place—if you saw The Constant Gardener, and we strongly, strongly recommend that you do if you have not already), you've seen it, Kibera. Anyway, we were there with this organization that built the community room where they put on their performance, and feeds all the people in the neighborhood who are HIV+, which is a lot of them.

Anyway: Part of what the community organizers do is sell necklaces like these. Excuse the bad flash, but we like the ones in the middle.

We are thinking we will buy a whole bunch, jack up the price (from basically nothing), and then give them all the profits back. We're wondering: those necklaces. If you hate them, don't tell us. If you like them, do. And how much you might spend on one, if you would, especially if all the money were going (and it would be going) to a good cause.

We have that necklace with the chevron-type stripes, and we certainly do not mind saying that we wear it all the time with a tank top, skinny jeans and boots.
