This Year's Uggs

Honestly, we don't entirely get the new "high fashion" Uggs. We don't know that we require our Uggs to be high fashion. We feel like this is sort of like putting a bow on something functional but unattractive, like a microwave. The microwave doesn't need to be pretty to do its job. Above: the Ugg Stella, $270

We also, Oprah endorsement or no Oprah endorsement, cannot get fully behind the crochet version. For one thing, didn't Livs get here first? And for another, we didn't really like Livs either. They just look all wrong to us. Ugg Classic Crochet, $100

That all said, we do, actually, love our Uggs, because there are warm when nothing else is. Uggs + wool socks = July in January, and that, it seems, is all we really want. (And no crochet. Or high fashion.) These are as far out on the limb as we'll go. Ugg Locarnos, $225

Just ordered the classic shorts in chocolate brown.
I'm sorry they are ugly.
I'm sorry all the 'girls' wear them.
I want soft and warm.
Oh, and I wear Crocs in the summer too.

I broke down and ordered some Ugg-like boots in anticipation of a couple trips to very cold climates. They're the Emu Australia Hip Boot which I think are cuter than the average Ugg b/c they are tall boots that have a ribbon that wraps around the leg and holds the boot in place, which is good for me b/c I have narrow feet and very slender legs, so I can improve the fit by tying them rather tightly.
Plus I got them on Amazon.com for $70 (they have since sold out) and they are very warm and cozy.
Still not my favorite style, but they serve their purpose well.
Also, I just have to say that the crochet Uggs make me throw up a little in my mouth. :P

P.S. Blackbird, have you seen these? You could kill 2 birds with one stone:

(I am in no way endorsing these from a style standpoint, btw. My mom tried these on in Red and I told her that she looks like Santa's redneck cousin.)

We're a bit embarrassed, but we also wear Uggs in the winter and Crocs in the summer. We believe in being practical when we can be!

What really is the point of ugly crochet boots. I get that Uggs are ugly but at least they are functional!

My bf and I got into an argument about Uggs this weekend. I need some and he thinks they're horrible and wants me to get something else. I just want dry feet.

NG--Sadly, Uggs don't keep your feet dry. I live in the snowy tundra of Minnesota and sprayed mine with weatherproofing spray to remedy this.
