Reader Question: The Hairband

In today's Reader Mailbag:
Dear Bunnyshop:I want my hair to look exactly like this, at least as far as the hairband is concerned. But whenever I wear one, it never stays in place for more than five minutes. Do you have any suggestions for solving this?
Help!
J.
Actually, we are equally baffled. But: here's hoping someone else has a solution?

so interested if anyone has suggestions, i am always fighting the headband battle. it's like my head isn't shaped the right way.

Bobby pins.

bobby pins are where it's at. i always secure scarves or headbands right below the tops of my ears, one pin on each side. if you have dark hair, they're easily hidden -and i think you can get lighter toned pins to camouflage better.

I have also been convinced that my head is misshapen, because I can't get my scarves to stay! Will try bobby pins.

you can also try using hairspray. if you put a bunch of hairspray on your hair where the band will lay the band should stay in place. the trick is putting the band on while the hairspray is still wet so when it dries it will stick in place.

Here's a trick: using a hot glue gun on the edge inside of your headband. Of course, let it dry before you put it on your head! I would say, if the band is stretchy, put the glue in a dotted or dashed pattern. The end result would be a bit like the sticky strip on the inside of some strapless bras.

I like the Goody sport no slip headbands. I have a wide black one that I picked up at the grocery store-- may not be as cute as a pretty printed scarf, but it doesn't move and it is cheap.
