We can hardly believe it, but it’s time to start thinking about gift buying again. We like to think of it as our little bit to support the retail industry. We always think things like: But we’d rather spend that money on ourselves! But we’ll say this: Every time we’ve given the right gift, we were extremely happy. It really is better, unfortunately, to give than receive. Well, at least as good.

We like to have certain go-to shops to get our holiday shopping done, and Austin’s Spartan is definitely one of them. We especially like it for necklaces, though our favorite thing here is, officially, an arts and crafts supply (and under $30).
Honestly, we’re not sure how anyone could not want a terrarium. This, we believe, is especially good for dudes who are otherwise impossible to buy for. It’s like: Hey! Here’s a living thing! Don’t kill it. Great Lakes prism terrarium, $80

This is one of the necklaces we like, though there are lots more. Marisa Haskell Bolinas necklace, $44

This plate set is from one of our favorite illustrators, Alyson Fox. Alyson Fox set of four plates, $54

And this the art supply thing we’d mentioned. Adorable pencil carry case! In felt! Very suitable for someone we know who just wants to be an artist, already. Felt pencil roll, $28

  1. Cute! Those plates are downright fantastic. The only gift I’ve purchased thus far is a Missoni scarf. I originally bought it for myself, but it seemed too unreasonably extravagant to keep. So it’s going to my mom, who lives in a significantly cooler climate.

Guilt: a gift that keeps giving!
