Reader Mail: The Cleanser

Man, do we love it when we get mail from readers.

Dear BS:

This is a bit random, but I’m looking for a new facial cleanser. I have some questions:

A) Do you wash your face everyday?
B) Do you cleanse, tone, and moisturize?
C) Which products do you use?
D) Do you think it makes a difference?

We have answers for this.

A: Sometimes. Definitely not every day, because we are lazy, and we get tired, and if we have to choose, we’re going to floss. But … 70% of the time.

B: We cleanse, serum-ize, and moisturize, though that last one only because our face gets really tight afterward, and that middle one only because we are a victim of every “Are you aging? Right this minute? Right now? While you sit there and watch that new, ridiculous show with Tony Robbins when you should be at some sort of party wearing a fancy dress?” commercial on TV.

C: We use whatever we have sitting around: either Philosophy’s Purity or Kiehl’s Yerba Mate cleanser, Elemis Visible Brilliance, and Kiehl’s Cryste Marine Firming Cream. The only one we’re picky about is the moisturizer, and even then, as long it’s Kiehl’s, we don’t mind. We do find that other moisturizers we’ve tried have been too greasy or sat up on our skin in an annoying way, especially in summer.

D: Probably not. We do feel like maybe it’s possible that the sunscreen helps. But basically we do it because we think we’re supposed to.

We’d love to know if anyone else has had similar, or very different, experiences. Please share! Or send us some mail!

Above: the Elemis Daily Cleansing Collection, which we basically went with because we can’t possibly put up another picture of the same Kiehl’s stuff we’re always writing about, even if we love it so.
