Lovely leather! Lovely shapes! And loveliest of all: the pound (in which these are priced) is at a billion-year low! This is our favorite, with lots of function-y zippers and pockets. Which is exactly what we need, a bag that’s all work-friendly when we’re so prone to taking too many long naps. The Bressa bag, about $185

We are the kind of person who will change handbags when the mood strikes. Sometimes it’s functional – need to switch to accommodate more stuff, or a change in the weather (open-top bags with rain = suck), sometimes it’s fashion based, but we are ALWAYS stuck when it comes to fancy dress and bags. We have two bags that can be used for fancy events; both black. One teeny tiny shoulder bag that will fit our wallet and a car key, and one black Jocasi bag that literally doubles as a weekender. This is definitely not satisfactory, and now that we’re becoming a grown-up, it’d be nice to have a bag that matches.

We are a bit scared of clutches because we fear that we’re going to forget the whole clutch part and leave it somewhere. We will have to get over that.

We came across Red Ruby Rose on Etsy and we are like whoa about her clutches. The first one that caught our eye was so lovely that it literally sold out while we were writing this. There are plenty of others to select from, though. We especially like this pink and purple one, despite it being pink and purple. The first one we saw was the same print – a very, very identifiable Liberty print – but in a strong turquioise colorway. Since that one’s gone, we like this as a runner up. The colors are feminine, and the pattern screams smart to us. It’s a bit pricey, but we have a very good grasp on the cost of Liberty textiles, seeing as how our mom is a collector. We think this is worth every penny, and this would be perfect for any event where you wouldn’t fear someone spilling wine on your bag.

Purple and pink peacock clutch, $85

We just saw this one and went ‘oooh’ out loud. It’s a lighterweight fabric, same Liberty print, less expensive. We would TOTALLY bring this to work with us.

Classic green and red peacock clutch, $75

We really get a kick out of how casual this one is, but we think we could totally dress it up. This is the kind of thing we would totally use as a wallet – we’d throw our money and cell phone and keys in here, and then pitch it into our bag. We would smile every time we saw these swans; plus, if we wanted to wear it out to a dressy event, we totally could. We envision it with a simple black dress, black tights, black heels, a fab ring, and this – it’s a statement without being obvious.

Two swans clutch, $75

We don’t know why, but we keep coming back to this particular piece. It’s much more feminine than we normally go for, it’s very light – which is not so good when you’re messy. Maybe it’s because the peonies remind us of our grandmother’s wallpaper (this is good, that paper was awesome) or because lilies of the valley make us think of our mom, but we love this one. It’s so simple and it’s sweet without being annoyingly so.

And say thank you, to our veterans. It truly freaks us out how many we know, and we’re grateful for all of them.

Juicy2080912397_prod_medium_v1_m565 So: We were gone for about six weeks longer than we thought we’d be – and it felt even longer after our computer died. We think it might have had something to do with all the ants we saw running in and out of it during this motorbike trip through Vietnam. We love that moment where you’re so tired and wet you’re just like: Ants? In my computer? Whatever, I’m going to sleep.

It was an awesome trip, and we remain in awe, as ever, by how much we love travel – just the concept, and how it can make things (lack of: job / money / whatever) seem much better, especially if you are, like we are, perpetual worriers. We’ve already convinced a friend or two to go to SE Asia after being laid off – not as contrary as it sounds, because we felt like we were living there quite happily on, sometimes, around $10 a day. That is not a lot of money, when it includes food and accommodations, we think. We can’t wait to go back, though we will be well pleased if we can do so without the ants frying our computer’s motherboard again.

Moving on! Our first stop, after two months in Singha beer t-shirts and shorts, was our local Urban Outfitters – local, for the next few days, anyway, being west London, and we bought an APC shirt. Now, we do not like to spend a lot of money on anything, but we’ve been reading all these self-help books lately – really, nothing but, as they were all we could find in some of the bookstores we went to while away. We remember this one section in one about how it was key to wear clothes you felt amazing in and were befitting your ambition, rather than your current situation. (Our current situation, again, being the Singha tees.) We’ve already worn it four times (in two days). It makes us feel like we are in the same area, at least, as the person we would like to grow into, which is a nice feeling.

We are infinitely sorry we missed the election day – we can’t even think of the word, but we can assure you that even in Borneo there was a fair bit of crying, jumping up and down and dancing in the hotel suites. We’re coming back to a Phillies World Series win and the most amazing political event of our lifetime. We’re shaking our heads. Hopeful! That, too, is a nice feeling.

This is not our blouse, but the closest we can find to it: Juicy Couture’s pintucked blouse, was $168, now $117.60.

Our real blouse will be on display at our reading this Wednesday night! If you’re in NYC, come by, it’s our one and only event this fall: Mercantile Library, 17 E 47th, 7 p.m. Treats will be offered!

We’re just going to say one more time how much we hate every computer in the world so much at this moment, and especially the one we are using, because it will not let us crop the borders of that picture above – which we love, from this week’s Economist. And then we will say: Hurrah! Hurrah! We don’t even think we’re jinxing ourselves, or anybody else. We hope everybody has amazing election day parties.

We remember once being at a reading in 2000 – holy shit, that’s eight years ago! – with our friends Jay and Brandon, and everyone being like, hurrah! And then, holy fucking shit! We do not believe it will be like that again.

We are actually going to be in another reading on Wednesday Nov. 12 in NYC, but we will get back to the self promotion tomorrow, once the world has righted itself.

Hurrah! Hugs around the world! We’re feeling a bit Disney at the moment.
