What is your favorite fashion moment from film history?
We had to think about this quite a bit, but our favorite recent fashion moment was actually Leighton Meester wearing a Jennifer Behr headband for TK. She really is, in our opinion, the best dressed character in filmed entertainment at the moment, and when we saw that headband we were just like: How does something so beautiful exist without us knowing about it previously? Historically, we usually go with our inevitable Audrey Hepburn answer—probably Sabrina—but lately we would recommend that movie Priceless for no other reason than the dresses Audrey Tautou wear are unbelievably excellent.
Also, bizarrely, we have perhaps never coveted any accessory so much as we did Scarlett Johansson’s Mulberry bag in the otherwise not particularly notable Match Point.
Who else has an opinion? Audrey H. in Roman Holiday? Audrey H. in Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Someone with a name other than Audrey?
I just watched this movie last night, so I would have to say when Grace Kelly wears that gorgeous white halter in “Rear Window”. Everything she wears in that movie is amazing, though.

The first time I ever remember being affected by a movie wardrobe (outside of princess wear from disney movies) was in dirty dancing. I wanted that dress Baby wore at the end of the movie so bad. I love that even though i’m so much older, i still have the exact same feeling when I watch the movie now. Doesn’t everyone want a dress that moves like that?
i think romy schneider in chabrols “innocents with dirty hands” has one of the greatest wardrobes ever. i also like the hair, the makeup and the house, but not so much the furniture. i tend to like the glamorous hippie-style for a while now… i never did before.

Well, I have to go back to my candidate when you had a similar question a while back: the shopping for a complete new wardrobe scene in The Palm Beach Story. 1942, so we’re talking some clothes. Oh, and jewelry. And then, of course, there’s the scene prior to that, where Claudette Colbert’s character makes a chic outfit out of a man’s pajama top and a railroad blanket. Either one.
I second Priceless, those dresses were sooo pretty! I was so envious!
I pretty much love everything Reese Witherspoon wears in “Walk the Line.” I love all those dresses and the big hair!

i would usually choose an audrey h. moment (who wouldn’t?) but recently i’m loving keira knightley’s green gown in atonement
okay, i’ll go with the audrey moment. {although she didn’t come into the scene much later, in my defense.} but i could watch the ascot race scene in “my fair lady” over and over and over again. it is costumed, choreographed perfection.
more recently, there are a number of scenes in “down with love” that always elicit tiny squeals.
i don’t know if this counts since it’s a movie musical, and probably not a classic, but madonna’s designer clothes in evita is so awesome! you never see those vintage dior pieces as they were supposed to look at the time!
I have to go with nearly everything that Jean Seberg wears in “Breathless,” although her blue and white striped dressed with huge sunglasses, plus pixie haircut, has got to be the best of the best:

Actually, my favorite fashion moment is the entire movie Trainspotting. Everyone is dressed amazing. Tight shirts, jeans, jackets around the waist, combat boots, slinky sliver dresses paired with burgundy pea coats, tailored suits and other suited paired with purple adidas….awesomeness.
