Did anybody else notice it was like smorgasbord of hairbands on PR last night?

This is just so much more involved than we intended it to be: last day to comment on (and sort of vote for) these two discussions:
and
What is the best gift – big or small – you have ever given someone?
The winners will either a free pair of shoes from Solestruck.com, or a fabulous new Jocasi bag.
Ooh, next time we’re going to be so much smarter about this. Moving on! We’re satisfying ourselves with a magically one-day contest that happened to dovetail, equally magically, with this question:
Dear BS:
Seeing as how I’m cutting back on my magazine-buying budget, I’m wondering: Which of these do you buy the most often: Lucky, Elle, or Vogue?
Looking for a vote.
A.
Well! We really do like Elle—we don’t need any more reasons beyond how much we love Holly Millea. But month in, month out? It’s Lucky. We know it’s a catalogue. But we love it. Maybe we’re in a very functional life segment. We have no idea. In any case, we bought UK Vogue more than we bought the regular one—we like their cover choices better (Gwyneth + Gisele = not interested).
So this will hopefully be the best +-$10 we spend all week: Comment below with your choice and why, and by tomorrow morning (we swear) we’ll name a winner for a one-year subscription at your choice. We’re just so over the delayed gratification of the madness above. Share your fave, we ask humbly.

We are cautiously pro the new haircut and VERY VERY ANTI the matching shoes.

So we were walking to yoga this morning and our shorts kept falling down, and we were all like, ah ha! Finally dropped all that gelato weight! Then we realized that we had just put them on backwards, but we were totally amazed that our shorts were so well engineered that wearing them one way, they stayed where they were supposed to quite nicely, but worn the wrong way, they fell down. Calibration!
We bought these shorts at Yoga Tree in SF last year, for forty-freaking-dollars, which we were furious about at the time. (You know, you get to yoga in your jeans, realize you forgot your shorts, and can’t bear to just walk home.) We would generally prefer to wear shorts that our mom bought for us when we were 14. And are therefore free. (Ish.) But on the odd occasion when we feel like we have spent more many than we wanted but have been well rewarded for that, we feel like we should mention this.
We will finally say that we were walking to yoga last week when we realized that it was two hours later than we’d originally thought and we had to divert immediately to do an interview. So we Girl Scout camp-changed while walking down the street into a quasi-respectable top and just went to the interview in our shorts. We were so pleased with them that we took this picture above.
This is not our most fashionable moment. But we just love these shorts so much!
The shirt is cuter than the photo allows.
Hyde yoga shorts, $36—they run *very* small so we bought a size up.
Have all the other .mac users suddenly discovered that their email is basically completely non-functional now? We blame it on the iPhone. Stupid iPhone!
Eh. We were reading—we were about to say because we were forced to, but that would have been a ridiculous lie—about making out on a summer holiday, and one of the suggestions was (literally) "Stop complaining." And we were like, "Hmm, wonder what that would be like…."
Moving forward: last day to comment on both of these contest entries:
If you had your dream body what would you wear that you’re not, right now?
and
As usual, the most-commented posts will either win a fabulous Jocasi bag or a free pair of shoes from Solestruck.com.
Moving on, in today’s Reader Mail. Are these the dog days of summer? We feel like they may be.
Dear Bunnyshop,
Don’t you think it sucks that Blake Lively was on the cover of that It Girl Vanity Fair issue, but not Leighton? Leighton is so much cooler. Team Blair!
We choose to think of this question not as a month late, since Carla Bruni is on the new one. It’s so insane, because we used to think of Carla Bruni as this washed-up model who made this album we really liked and now she thinks she’s the French Jackie O. (We here at Bunnyshop HQ are saying that title should go to Michelle Obama. We demand that this hard-working, non-radical Princeton graduate be given a break by right-wing asshats. Cindy McCain! If we had a daughter and she was like, "Mommy, I want to be Cindy McCain when I grow up," we’d … we don’t know, send her to Outward Bound or something.)
Wow. Off topic. Anyway: yes. Team Blair! We really like Blake Lively—we interviewed her once, and she was smart and funny and nice. But Leighton’s awesome on GG and it’s such a dick move to give BL the cover goodness without Blair.
Summer! Our brain is just like, Sorry, dude, see you Labor Day. We choose not to fight it. So we will just show fall runway exits we like, like this above from Pucci. Pucci! Nice to see that acid yellow survived the season. We totally want that jacket.
Etsy is a bit of a problem for us; we can always find something we like, we can always justify whatever we buy (we do love to support independent artists AND have unique things), and we have never had a bad experience. This has led us to a bit of an Etsy problem, and recently, we’ve had to step back a little bit. We enjoyed our time away, and our return was much quieter, more low-key, and less expensive than we thought.
And then we came across a seller by the name of Bonspielcreation. We love screenprinted things because we cannot make them ourselvs, and this collection knocked our socks off. The imagery is so incredibly detailed, and her designs are simple but compelling – something we rarely see. We’re so tired of coming across something we love at first site, but when we click on the alternate view it’s got pom-poms or sequins or weird trim. Not so here.
We purchased the Multipass Clutch, shown above. We love the owl on one side, and the inside has a rabbit and Love in something we call carnival font. It’s got enough pockets to fulfill our needs, it snaps shut, and it’s got a handle. It’s perfect. At $72, it’s not cheap – but a wallet IS something we use every day.
We snapped up the last one, but if you’re interested in something similar, convo Ellen and we bet she’ll make something awesome happen.
We know someone who has lost so many passports that she has old ones just floating around, including in the driver’s side pocket of a relative’s car. We are SURE that if her passport were encased in this snazzy squirrel cover she would not lose it. And at $14, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a new passport.
Squirrel Passport Case, $14
This picture is kind of hard to see, but it’s a fanny pack with a bunny on it. I think the official term is belt bag, and before you run away in horror, we will say this. We know people who actively use them. Some are just inherently fashionable and feel the need to have free hands, and some are people who actually need to have pouches within arm’s reach (waitresses for tips, people who work conventions who need a money pouch, etc). We would actually like to see this look resurrected; we have some hope (Gucci did one a few seasons back with limited success, it seems), but this bunny one is too good to pass up.
Vive la belt bag!

Just in case someone out there has not seen this.
We have always been rather ‘meh’ about the idea of shopping as therapy. We don’t really believe in avoidance as a coping method, we don’t drink our sorrows away (unless you count sugar-free Kool Aid), we don’t cry into our cupcakes. We generally just kind of deal, at least as best we can.
Sometimes, though, a complete distraction is necessary. We suffered quite a painful loss this weekend, when we lost our beloved dog, Barrett. He was the best dog anyone could ever, ever ask for and while he had an amazing life and was not well, losing him made us feel as though our heart and lungs were being ripped out. We will admit that we did not know how to deal. We needed a distraction, we needed to get out, and we needed to still have money to pay the mortgage at the end of the month. Where did we go? Where else but the mall?
We love the anonymity of the mall, we love not having to talk to anyone, and we can always use new jeans. We stumbled into Delia’s, of all places – the slightly less hoochie than Forever 21 teen store. We’ve always liked their t-shirts, but we tend to stay far away from places where we are clearly the oldest people shopping. Delia’s had a deal we couldn’t stay away from, though, and it’s actually too good to keep quiet. They had a deal where we got a $10 gift card for trying on a pair of jeans (redeemable immediately and good on anything), jeans were buy 1 get 1 pair 1/2 off (with a normal retail of around $45), AND there was a $25 coupon for every $50 spent (that coupon is redeemable in August, though). We were surprised to find the fit of the jeans pretty on point – while we’re not happy about the size we had to get, we’re doing our best to ignore the number. They come in a million different lengths and sizes – which is good since the styles and washes are a little limited. The skinny fit (the Morgan, shown above) is not insanely skinny nor is it extremely low. It’s probably a good fit on just about everyone. We bought it in 2 washes, just to be on the safe side – and at just over $60 for both, we’re ok with that.
We also found the perfect hoodie at Delia’s. We wore it pretty much all weekend. It’s basically like a slim fitting blanket with a massive hood to hide behind. We also got $10 off thanks to the in store coupon. Sure, most of the kids who shop at Delia’s have probably only glimpsed Rolling Stones CDs in their parents collections and think they’re a bunch of creepy old men, but we’ll represent.
The last thing we needed this weekend was a pair of the biggest, blackest sunglasses we could find. The Chelsea glasses from Oliver Peoples do not disappoint. These are hardly a bargain, but we think definitely worth it.
We tip our hat, and our heart, to our beloved Barrett – and we hope that we can be loved half as much as he is.

We love how our Friday posts are being devoted to various sales, of the sample or stoop variety. This week! Tucker, one of our favorite brands. (See above, though NB this is a sneak peek at FW—exciting as well!) We’d be there if we were anywhere nearby.
