Oh goodness! Here it is, the contest we’ve been waiting to debut for ages. The amazing folks at Jocasi are sponsoring it—which means they gave us one of their gorgeous bags to give away. We love Jocasi so much we have no fewer than five in the BS HQ—they could hardly be more awesome. We would likely be capable of more effusion if the washing machine in the apartment we’re staying in this weekend hadn’t been cycling for literally six hours, but here we are.
Anyway, it’ll work like this. There are only going to be ten entries. You get an entry by sending us a Reader Mail question. The bag will go to the person whose question gets the most responses in the comments section. (We’ll be making sure that there’s only one comment per person, not that we think any member of the Bunnyshop community would consider doing that.) We hope this isn’t as confusing \ convoluted as our contests usually are.
Today, we begin with this question, from LA:
If you could pick just one, what would be your all time favorite article of clothing or accessory … and do you still have it?
Thanks!
LA
(mine is a silver cuff bracelet, that I received as a gift over 10 years ago, and I still wear it all the time. I think it is timeless … and it makes me feel like Wonder Woman.)
LA is now entered for the contest. We’ll be running a new Reader Mail question each day, and then we’ll give this gorgeous bag to the reader who came up with the best question—"best" in this case measured by the number of comments. Send us your questions—and definitely let us know your answer to LA’s question, below. Very important last thing: Definitely put "Jocasi" in your subject line—otherwise we’ll think they’re garden-variety reader mail.
Above: the Jocasi Montana, about $170

But… isn’t there a flaw in this plan? If I think that there is a chance that a reader mail question I sent in will be selected later in the week, then why would I comment on someone else’s reader mail, and thus give them a leg up in the contest?
Since I’m already commenting though, my all-time favourite item is my wedding ring. Gag, I know, but it’s a really cool poesy ring and I still love it after more than a decade.
I’d have to go with an old t-shirt that was my mom’s in the early 80′s. Not only is the bold yellow on green design awesome, but it is the softest material I have ever felt.
Mine is the Lucky jeans I got in college. They were my first pair that were premium-ish: dark wash, low-rise, and really flattering after those years of baggy Gap and Old Navy jeans. I still wear them all the time, though I have other nice pairs now too
Mine is more expensive: one of the first Balenciaga motorcycle bags made. Perfect size, perfect soft leather, perfect handles. I had to sell it because I couldn’t afford it, but I still dream about that bag, and I’m still searching for something (ahem, cheaper) to replace it.
My very very favorite thing is an item passed to my mother and now to me. It is basically a portable hook used to hold a lady’s purse at a restaurant. One places it on the side of the table and suspends her purse from the hook. It works on every table size virtually, enables you to keep a direct eye on your bag, and eliminates the need to put your purse on the filthy floor. I admire that it is a blend of elegance and practicality. It’s such an unusual item.
Also, it is adorably dainty – it looks like a doggie. It is covered in dark brown mink, the hook part is gold, and the eyes of the doggie are rubies. It is a GREAT conversation piece. Yes, I still have it and would part with it only by having it pried from my cold, dead hands.
My polka-dotted vintage swim mini-skirt, def. I would wear every day if I could. It’s just…awesome. ‘Nuff said.
Definitely, my charm necklace I’ve acquire through the years. It’s a simple gold chain with my dad’s wedding ring, a gold leaf given to me by my best friend, a “D” for my initial from spain given to me by another friend, and a golden pendant of jesus on the crucifix shaped like an anchor made of fish and a ship’s helm ( I got that in downtown LA). It’s like body armor for me.
I wear the same thing every day:
one dainty, 16″ silver necklace and another of the same in gold. I always wear the clasps in the front for some reason. I like wearing both gold and silver.
Something I also wear is my deceased grandfather’s watch. It doesn’t work anymore (and I refuse to replace the battery) but it is vintage and it reminds me of him. It still sort of works, but in no means is it real time. It takes about a week for the hand to move an hour! In this case, I definitely choose form over function!
My favorite accessory is a silver puffy heart necklace given to my grandmother by my grandfather. It’s smooth and classic on one side, and textured and vintage looking on the other…so I get some variety out of a very meaningful piece.
I have a small silver bangle that was my favorite aunt’s. I love it, it is always in style and it always makes me think of her.
An incredibly fabulous vintage emerald green silk coat. It’s the exact U.S.-made replica of a 60s Balenciaga piece. It is enormous and fabulous and I’ve never actually worn it out because no event has ever seemed worthy of its amazingness.
Someone obviously needs to invite me to a ball. Or the MTV music awards.
My favorite is a red Burberry trenchcoat that makes me feel like Carmen Sandiego.
My old skool checkerboard vans…hands down!
My all time favorite article of clothing would be my True Religion jeans. They were my very first pair of designer jeans and I’m still wearing them 5 years later!
My favorite thing would be my old diamond engagement ring. It has since been replaced by a diamond ring of larger size, better quality, etc., but nothing could ever replace the joy of receiving the first one.
Well…. I would have to say my favorite thing would be my jordache jeans from High School, my first designer pair!!! I unfortunately can not wear them 20 years later (sad) but I still dream of wearing them to my 25th High School Reunion.
My Mom’s Mother’s/engagement ring…I had the gem stones from her mother’s ring, along with the diamond from her engagement ring placed into a new band and I wear it just about every day. I gain strength, sentiment and a sense of all things good when I wear it.
I have so many but my fave would have to be my big silver hoop earrings! Hoops are classic and always look great.
Mine are my TEVAs. I probably have almost 2 dozen pair. Different colors to go with almost anything in my casual wardrobe. First sign of spring and I go buy my new ones for the season.
A bracelet that my sister talked me into buying last year! It has lots of small stones of various colors. I can almost wear it with anything ( solid) that I pick out of my closet.
Pearls my mom gave me on Christmas you can wear them with your LBD or just with Jeans and a T shirt. Thy are a classic
My all-time favorite, even though I have a closet full of designer jeans, is a pair of old, old, old Levi bootcut jeans, with just the right amount of stretch to make the butt feel, ohhhhh so comfy….and as long as the butt’s happy, the rest of me is too!
It was a tough decision but I think it it a fine gauge, camel-color wool sweater coat that you can wear with or without the thin belt. It is 7 years old and has been worn a ton but it still looks great and it goes with everything. It is warm but not bulky in the car or wherever you are going. I even layer it with a heavier long coat when it is really cold.
well I find it tough to pick one favorite. if you could see my closet you would understand why! I guess I would have to say my favorite accessory is a pair of diamond earrings I received from an admirer about 10 years ago. That feels so boring though so I would say hands down – SHOES!!! SHOES can make any ordinary outfit marvelous, heck SHOES can make any ordinary day marvelous!!
Good question, LA! I think mine would have to be a pair of black, chunky 1 1/2 inch platform sandals that sort of look like platform TEVAs (velcro straps crisscross top and back)- sound terrible but they actually make you look sporty (legs look great due to the platform) and fashionable! I wear them with short or long casual shorts or cropped jeans. I got them at the shoe warehouse (some no name brand like “ME TOO” probably 14 years ago for under $30 and keep them neatly in my closet next to my 5 inch hot pink suede Christian Louboutin pumps. If they get dirty, I just spray them off with water!
My favirote accessorie is my cherry earings!Yes, i still have them.
I would have to say that it is a charm bracelet that I have had since I was eleven. It has silver and gold charms on it. I added to it through my junior high, high school and college years. It’s classic and goes with just about everything.
I can’t live without, much less get dressed without a pair of boots in both brown and black.
Gotta have them.
Great question! At the moment I would have to say it’s probably an old ripped up pair of jeans. They aren’t designer brand but have got to be the most comfortable pair of jeans I’ve ever worn. The reason I say at the moment is because they’re really the only pair I can still wear but also because my style & tastes are always changing.
Great question! I would say my favorite article of clothing of all time would be my black cashmere sweater set. It is great with jeans or anything else. It is definitely timeless and my favorite go-to article of clothing!
Couldn’t do without my khaki trenchcoat – goes with anything, anytime, anywhere.
My Lucky jeans are my fav!!!
A simple necklace that I got years and years ago, it goes with anything!
