We can’t lie – we love it when you ask us questions about us. Here’s today’s reader question:
Dear LB,
Name three things that you always must have in your purse/bag/whatever!
Thanks!
Ally
Now, we must start by saying our grandfather (one of our very favorite people in the entire, entire world) used to essentially pat himself down to make sure he didn’t forget anything. He even had a little rhythm going on, where he’d say, ‘hankie, wallet, keys’ and then be on his way.
We are quite like him, it seems. Or, we’re mildly OCD. We must physically see important things in our bag before we leave, we must touch doors to make sure they’re locked. We must touch the stove to be sure it’s off, even though we haven’t cooked in days.
Because we are such worrywarts, we often have a lot of stuff with us we don’t need. And we have things that we absolutely need that are boring (like our BlackBerry, but man we love that thing). Or our keys (cute key fob and all, but totally not interesting). So here are our top 3 things we must have at all times, other than the ABSOLUTE musts:
1.Our Jocasi wallet – ours is the half-moon buckle, but same idea. We promise, this has nothing to do with Jocasi discount month (10% off! code: bunnyshop!). We love this wallet so much. It’s our first venture into a real wallet with pockets. We use to use a card holder from Chinatown, and then we used a magic wallet we lifted from our sister. Our Jocasi wallet is awesome to look at – sometimes, we’ll just grab it out of our bag and run in somewhere with it. It holds SCADS of things. It has separate compartments, which we love because we need organizational things in our life. The best part, it looks good and the leather is aging really well. Oh – and the poor wallet – it’s held up under a LOT of abuse. It rules. And we never forget it.Dagger wallet, approx $130 before 10% discount
2. Next we have our trusty Rosebud Salve. It’s cheap, it’s a great lip gloss, hand lotion, and hair-de-frizzer in a pinch. We have a tin of this in like 4 different bags, our gym locker, our desk, next to the bed, etc. You can’t go wrong.
3. Finally, we have the Lorac Gloss Stick. Normally, we wouldn’t really care about a colored lipgloss. We, afterall, have our Rosebud Salve. Who needs actual color? But we were just at a wedding, and the neutral lip color we were wearing made us look kind of diseased. We wiped that off with a fairly clean napkin, and we were so stoked to find this in our bag. If nothing else, it won a permanent spot in our bag that fateful afternoon. It’s awesome because it’s superlight, it smells good, it looks good, you don’t need a mirror to apply, and it’s saved our butt in more than one situation!

covergirl concealer stick, ninewest wallet (in all its pink faux-snakeskin fabulousness), clinique almost lipstick in black honey (or the clinique butter shine lipstick in baby baby)
This summer I tried the rosebud salve and it has (SHOCKER) replaced my Burts Bees lipbalm as the “thing that must go everywhere with me”. I love that it can be all things and still be lovely.
rosebud salve de-frizzes hair? got to try that!
argh. why is rosebud salve $5.50 for you in the states and almost $10 for me in canada? even with almost at par dollars? argh argh.
