Is named Kathleen, and her last initial is A., and we are so freaked there are two of you, but we have just e-mailed her, and so if you are also a Kathleen A., then we are so sorry.

We are seriously going to rethink the raffle strategy because there is something that’s a bit of a downer about not having much to announce except the name. But we’re stuck with it this time. We’ve told her that she’s going to have to (like, really have to, as a condition of winning) tell us how she’ll spend her gift certificate.

But we’re going to have another, hopefully more visually engaging, contest soon. In any case, we are just so delighted with the Bunnyshop community, because our roommate said it couldn’t be done, but you guys totally provided a massive, just massive donation to our two charities: Send-a-Cow and Mercy Corps Mongolia. When we are posting from somewhere other than a gas station we’ll put up the final amount. But. It. Is. Massive. We love you, Bunnyshop community, because we don’t think a single one of you donated thinking about winning as much as just being excellent, excellent. You know what we mean.

Final total soon. But thank you, soooo much, every single one of you.

Everyone must be so bored of hearing us say:

1: Donate $5 (or more) to the amazing, Mongolia-based charities via the button on the left
2: We will provide you with one raffle ticket for each $5 you donate
3: Tonight, as close as possible to midnight, we will select a winner!

We are also still doing the thing where if you buy a copy of this lovely book called Smart Girls Like Me, a $5 donation will be made on your behalf—just forward the receipt here.

Easy peasy, everybody wins!

Someone recently asked us what bag we’d buy if (a) it had to be black, (b) it had to be really expensive, and (c) it had to be really conservative, but not entirely boring. This is our answer. And with a donation, plus some luck, $500 cheaper! Vanessa Bruno patent tote, $844

Come out and see Diane read tonight at Book People in Austin! We can’t swear what’ll happen, but the pictures we’ve seen have made it look fun. We can almost guarantee she will read something, laugh a lot, smile with a slightly tense look (like the same look our mom has made at us when we drew a lovely picture on the wall when we were little), and drink Diet Coke.

The time is TBD. Er, it has been decided, we just haven’t been told yet. We will let you know.

It’s the last day of our newly, better-ly publicized $500 Shopbop raffle. The rules, for what we promise is the very last time:

1: Donate $5 (or more) to two amazing charities during work in Mongolia and in impoverished communities elsewhere: Mercy Corps Mongolia and Send-a-Cow
2: For each $5, you’ll get one ticket to the raffle
3: On Saturday, we’ll pick a winner!
4: Who then gets $500 to spend at Shopbop!

Etc.

So this is totally what we’d spend our money on. We’re just so into shapeless at the moment. We’re sure this has nothing to do with the number of pot pies (many) we’ve been eating lately. Ella Moss tunic, $121, and Loeffler Randall Matilde boots, $695

Winner tomorrow, we absolutely swear.

Where the line between a belted cardigan and a sweater coat is, we don’t know. They’re pretty much everything we don’t like in a top: Tops that end at the hips, on munchkin-sized individuals, are rarely positive things. Still. Sometimes it is cold (though not, like, this year, but whatev), and sometimes that’s all that matters.

Also in a slightly more stain-resistant navy (“lapis”).

Marc Jacobs belted cardigan, was $358, now $214

Well, there are loads of reasons. The comments, the questions, the mail. We think we most love that knowing someone is taking time out of their day to read what we write. We thank you very deeply for that!

And it honestly touches us when our readers reach out to us – much like Andrea did yesterday. She did us one better, and sent us a follow-up email with a load of details on how all of us can help those affected by the wildfires in California. As she said in her email to us, it’s just a start – but hey, we all have to start somewhere.

Andrea, as they say in the neighborhood we live in, good looking out. Here are her suggestions:

The talent agencies are pitching in as well. Michael Donkis, a
spokesman for Endeavor, which represents such A-listers as Ben Affleck,
Adam Sandler and Martin Scorsese, said the boutique agency with about
250 employees was planning to conduct a clothing drive around the first
of November, collecting both business attire for people who lost their
work wardrobes in the fires as well as general clothing for families.
The agency also plans to hold a food drive in November and a toy drive
right after Thanksgiving.

Just for the record, we also wanted to post the web address for the Red Cross and The Salvation Army. We’ve heard good and bad things about both charities (some dating back to the race wars in Philadelphia in the 1960s), and we will admit we are not fully schooled on either charity. But we believe in doing as much good as we can.

We, like most people our age, carry our keys on a hiking/spelunking carabiner. We have since our sister bought us one in San Francisco, and we cried when we lost it 6 years later in a cab. Only time we’ve ever lost our keys.

Currently, we have a blue one that advertises a business we are related to – and we love it. Except lately, the latch part is becoming weak. Our keys have managed to slip off several times. This terrifies us, as losing keys = instant tears. And we are not sure if we can cry with our new eyes.

We just bought a new key fob from etsy, and we’re really excited for it to arrive. Honestly, we’ve never had a proper key fob before – save for the one our then-boyfriend’s grandmother gave us that was addressed to, ‘Jim’s Friend’. We had actually put a lot of thought into our gift for her, and we hope she liked it more than she liked us.

So. It’s our first key fob. Ours has squirrels on it, but we love elephants just as much. While we enjoy the latch-ability of our carabiner, we are DEFINITELY intrigued by this wearing-on-the-wrist-ability. Fingers crossed, it’ll prevent us from losing our keys ever again!

We love reader mail. Please send us more here!

Here is our question today:

Hey Little Bunny,
Here’s a question for you. We know what you’re looking at online, but what are you actually buying?
Just curious…
Casey

Oh, how we feared this day we come. We. We don’t know how to say this. We have mentioned our self-imposed shopping abstinence. We have talked about finding bargains. We cannot lie. We shop. Online. All the time. For everything. We’re currently looking for a relatively inexpensive medium format camera (got one? Let us know!). A new house (we found a sweet one that is basically what we drew as small children when we drew houses). A brother dog for our dog (which not REALLY but in case there is an urgent home needed, we are that home). We just bought a camera case and lens for our camera.

We honestly try to limit our apparel buying, but we did just purchase a whole bunch of things from Old Navy. We would show you, but for the 2nd time in as many days, their site is busted. We will mention that we bought 5 pairs of pants – 2 different styles. And we are absolutely confounded as to how different colors within the same style can fit so differently. We actually got sweaty and panicky trying to put them on and we do not know what to DO with them now. Seriously – who makes pants that sit at the widest point of the hip AND THEN PUTS POCKETS ON THEM? THAT ARE PARALLEL TO THE LEG AND THEY STICK OUT?

We have our answer.

Anyway. The stores that we purchase most from are:

Old Navy (cheap basics, cute disposable novelty)
Forever 21 (disposable, on point trends)
B+H (photographic supply store that made our jaw drop when we went in)
eBay (obviously)
Gap (we like the sweaters and bras, honestly)
etsy (if we’re going to dress so boring, we have to liven it up somehow)

Please do not judge us.

First, how the raffle works: Donate $5 to Mercy Corps Mongolia and Send a Cow, two amazing Mongolian charities we’re currently working with, and for each $5, we’ll assign you one raffle ticket. We’ll name the winner Saturday evening. That’s it! To donate, just click the “Donate” button to the left. Easy, peasy.

So yesterday we were talking about how our ridiculously delayed $500 Shopbop gift certificate raffle—er, how if we won it, we’d buy lots of basics. This time, we’d use it as a way to knock down the price of something super expensive. Because we would never, in a million years, be able to convince ourselves to spend $860 on these boots. We might, might, might be able to convince ourselves to spend $360. (It’s possible.) This is the beauty of the $500 gift certificate.

Above: Paul & Joe boots, $860

We are adding these, which we quite like, just because we can’t let this post be only about boots that cost almost $1000.

Above: Dolce Vita booties, $195

We love shopping for vintage things. We, as we may have mentioned, have been going to flea markets and auctions since before we could speak. We could tell the difference between amber and plastic before we graduated from Sweet Valley High books. As we’ve gotten older, we’ve gotten less and less patient with vintage clothing shopping. The sizing is never consistent (nor is the usually a dressing room), and we can’t be bothered to dig through piles and piles of white leather jackets to find the wool coat of our dreams.

Lo and behold, we present you with our favorite vintage clothing site. The assortment is small, but the items are consistently good, and the prices are fantastic. We visited this shop when it had a storefront, and we’ll continue to check it out on a regular basis to see what beauties they stock.

We love this dress for a pair of tights and boots, or just with heels.

And for $32, you can’t go wrong. We can’t link you to the exact item, but the link below will take you to the entire assortment.
